Hi everyone! My name is Abby Chalmers, and I'm the Ahlahasa editor for the 2021-2022 school year! I am a varsity soccer captain and the president of several clubs at the high school. After my senior year, I plan to attend college and major in English, education, and/or business.

Senior captain Lucy Stay smiles with fellow captains sophomore Rachel Doppelhammer and senior Esther Yoon as she hoists the championship plaque in the air. Last Thursdays win turned one of Stays greatest aspirations into reality. State is something Ive been dreaming about since I was a little girl, and the fact that we finally made it is insane, she said. Im looking forward to everything, but playing at the Xcel Energy Center and making unforgettable memories with my team is what Im most excited for.

Jeffrey searches the crowd for her parents. Moments after making the free throw that secured her place as the highest scorer in Albert Lea girls basketball history, she was surrounded by her teammates and members of the student section. “I remember immediate hugs from people and Coach Hanson and then finding my parents in the stands and just sending them a heart signal with my hands,” she said.


January 20, 2022
Holt, Cunningham and Anfinson perform one of Donna and the Dynamos songs, Super Trooper. The girls are good friends both on and off stage, which helped them get into character. I like all of the Donna and the Dynamos scenes, Cunningham said, referencing the numerous songs the trio sings together throughout the show. Katie, Morgan and I have such a great bond. This helps tie into how we play our characters.

Students in the Symphony Orchestra practice their music during class. This orchestra is one of the many electives available to students, while the chamber orchestra is an extracurricular available to musicians looking for an opportunity to play more advanced music.

Junior Jenna Steffl performs a back somersault with one and a half twists at a diving meet. Steffl finished the regular season with a record of 8-0 and has already set high goals for her senior season. I hope to get better, bigger dives in general, with more difficulty, and also perfecting my form more, in the air and on my entries, she said.

Eighth-grader Bryant Johnston utilizes the hand sanitizer station located in the Commons. Albert Lea High School implemented these stations at every entrance, and there are two thermal scanners situated at the Pool Doors and the Commons entrance as well.
