At the beginning of high school, I couldn’t grasp that it would end so quickly. I thought it would feel like forever – and though in the moment it felt long, it now feels like it went by too fast. When I was little, I would always watch movies about high school and dream about it. Now I can fully say that it is NOTHING like the movies at all. You can only wish that your experience is like “Kickin It” or any other Disney movie from the early 2000’s and 2010’s. I do feel like I wasted so much time on some things and that I shouldn’t have procrastinated as hard and should have joined more activities, but I’m overall happy with my experience.
I can’t say I’ll really miss being here. Maybe in the far future, I’ll look back at these years and wish it could be like that again. If anything, I wish I could go back to being five in the early 2010s… but I can’t. I used to get up overly early and get ready in whatever my dad had picked out for me. I liked to sit in an empty diaper box while eating Oreos and watching my dad’s favorite show “Family Guy”. I had a large amount of toys that I didn’t even know what to do with.
It feels like I’ve changed, and I definitely have. The real question is what really changed about me besides that I grew older? When I was five, I couldn’t even picture high school.
For now, I’m excited for what the future holds for me. Though it sounds scary to be off on my own and having to pay for all my expenses, I’m excited to see what happens next. This time is yours to spend, so don’t waste it. Join that club, complete that assignment, and do what makes you happiest.
