For this month’s Hasa Trys we wanted to make it important. We wanted to leave a legacy of our time together as a staff. This would be our last Trys as this specific group. While some of us have another year or two, our five seniors, Kae Bee, Carley Ladlie, Rice Boettcher, Emma Weckwerth and Jorja Bolinger, it is their last time for Hasa Trys. We wanted to do something special for the final time. Something that would last. We wanted something that would be memorable. After looking at the few Ahlahasa things decorating the classroom, we decided to remember this year by making a scrapbook collage to hang in the room for future staff to see.
To make the collage we started with a blank white canvas donated by Bee. We agreed the background should be different pages from the past issues of our newspaper. We used modge podge to attach it and then started decorating on top of it. Ryoko Imperial, our staff artist, created a special title with “The Ahlahasa” and added on Birdie and Lee, the famous bird and tiger from our comics, of course. The rest of us printed and cut out fun pictures of us from this year doing things as a group. We also printed out copies of our state and national awards. In the class, we glued these images on top of the newspapers. We centered all these decorations around our logo which we cut out and put in the very center.
As we were doing the crafting we talked about memories from this year. These are some of Hasa’s favorite memories. “Some of my favorite memories from Hasa this year have been from hanging with the other staff during deliveries. One of the funniest memories I have is getting briefly lost with Carley and Ryoko,” said Izzy Mednansky.
“I don’t have a favorite memory I could name on top of my head, however I’ve made really good memories with everyone. I will cherish these memories!” said Kae Bee.
“One of my favorite Hasa memories was when Carley bought me a coffee from Scooter’s during delivery.” Said Imperial.
“My favorite memories have to do with all the conventions we get to go to as a staff.” Said Ladlie. “I’ve just learned so much from them and have gotten to meet so many amazing people.”
When we finally thought class was over for the day as well as our last Hasa Trys as our staff, Ladlie decided she wanted to make it even more interesting as she tripped while she was holding the modge podge jar ending our last Hasa Trys with a hilarious memory and some modge podge to clean up.
