What are your thoughts on Albert Lea High School’s course selection? Do you feel it meets students’ needs? Why or why not? Are there classes offered that connect to a career field you’re interested in, and do you think the school provides enough opportunities to earn college credit and learn at your best ability? What courses would you like to see offered?

“I think Albert Lea’s course selection is very good with having lots of options and opportunities. I also think the course selection meets the students’ needs because of the college and workshop classes. One class that’s connected to my career field is Intro to Engineering and Design. And I believe that the school provides a lot of opportunities for college credit giving everyone a chance to learn what they want. Overall, I can’t think of any other courses that need to be added and that shows the amount of paths that are available.”

“I think they have a lot of different course options which I like. I feel that it really does meet the students needs because depending on what you want to do in the future there is a course to take that applies to that job. I want to go into nursing, and the School offers lots of nursing classes such as the PSEO nursing class. I feel the school gives us students a lot of college credit classes we can take. I can’t really think of a course that’s not already offered.”

“No, I think we need more hands-on classes where you work with your hands. There are some agriculture classes but not enough to fully understand hands-on learning in my opinion. It is the best learning, and we need some more engineering classes for grease monkeys. I think the new course next year is a good idea and we need more classes for mechanics, farmers and construction workers.”
Autumn Hoffman (10)
“I think that it 100% meets the needs of what kids need to learn, and still enjoy school, and there are lots of options for people. There are lots of college credit options, which is great because many students like to earn credits where they can. They also have many classes that connect to career fields and can help in the future when people are getting into a career. Also the activities and clubs are great. There is something for every student so they can be involved. I personally love the courses already shown, and don’t think there needs to be any new ones!”
