Boys’ Hockey Defeats Mankato West

Last Thursday, the Tigers took down the Scarlets, 5-2.

Last Thursday the boys’ hockey team hosted the Mankato West Scarlets for their third home game of the season. 

The game began and both teams started off strong in the first period, although no goals were scored. Albert Lea totaled 6 shots on the net while Mankato West 2. 

The Tigers came out hard in the second period with Elijah Farris (10) scoring their first goal within the first five minutes of play. Joseph Yoon (11) tallied a second goal just two minutes after Farris. Mankato West responded with a goal of their own shortly after. Albert Lea increased their lead with Beau Schreiber (11) scoring their third goal, making the score 3-1, Tigers. The Scarlets tried to make a comeback but couldn’t find the net. The period ended with Schreiber and Josh Behrends (11) scoring two more goals during the last minute, bringing the score after the second period to 5-1. 

In the third period, Mankato West managed to add one more point to their score but fell to Albert Lea with a final score of 5-2. 

The Tigers took to the ice again this past weekend during the Albert Lea Hockey Day celebration and were defeated by Red Wing, 3-2. They will travel to Austin this Thursday with the puck drop slated for 7 p.m..
