EMT: Elisha Marin in Training

Senior Elisha Marin has been all around the world, but the majority of his “college years” will be spent right here in Albert Lea.
While many of his peers are off to four year colleges and spending a small fortune on tuition, Marin plans to earn his associates degree from Riverland Community College, along with training to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
The future plans brewing in Marin’s mind are not intended for his own benefit or profit. Marin wants to stay in Albert Lea to do ministry with Grace Christian Church.
“Some people learn best from attending a four year college to get a degree, but in my situation, it will work out best to learn from experience and be on the mission field right away,” said Marin.
Marin is already involved in ministry at Grace as the Young Adult Director, a frequent preacher, and lead guitarist for the worship band. He is looking forward to having more time to get even more involved.
“I won’t have a restricted school schedule, which will be a relief,” said Marin.
Another big part of Marin’s ministry is doing a lot of traveling. Earlier this year he took a month off school to go all over Europe and the Balkans—he is already planning on returning this summer. In the future he intends to be overseas quite often, and that’s where his EMT certification comes in handy. He wants to be able to help people who need medical assistance.
Marin has plans of possibly attending courses at a Christian discipeship program in Texas called Christ for the Nations, but doesn’t see that happening for quite awhile. Christ for the Nations is a training program intended to equip men and women to share the Gospel to the Nations. Marin is most interested in their technical arts and music programs.
