The Concert Xcels

The Concert Xcels

7:00 p.m. Friday, January 28th, at the XCEL energy center Linkin Park performed their world touring show. The album their showing off is called “A Thousand Suns”, it’s their fourth album as a band. The concert wasn’t, however, limited to the songs from A Thousand Suns, by any means. They played a range of songs from the first album through the current release.

At the start of the concert ‘Does it offend you, Yeah?’ jumped on the stage and played their playlist. A little bit of light action and you have yourself an opening band. Next came ‘Pendulum’, they open for Linkin Park, bringing more lights and more energy to get the crowd pumped. After they play their set, Linkin Park came out and the sound and energy levels exploded. The crowd went crazy and they started the real show.

Linkin Park started off their show by playing Papercut from the Hybrid Theory album, which is their oldest album. It’s slightly strange to start off their new album’s tour with a first album song. The band played so many songs, I can’t even remember how many. They had 2 encores, which is where they leave the stage and the crowd is so wild that the band re-enters the stage and plays more songs. They ended the concert on a high note with New Divide, a song that they made specifically for the Transformers 2 movie. People went nuts.

Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park, said, “You guys are the most energetic crowd we’ve seen yet.” When talking to the people standing in front of the stage at the XCEL.

During different songs, each of the two main singers went into the crowd and joined the uproar in the front. Mike Shinoda, the co-founder of Linkin Park, along with Bennington joined the mosh pit area and sang along with everyone, including the body guards whom followed them in, of course.

The show had a lot of different light routines; they seemed to be set up for each individual song. It must have taken some practice to get it just right. Over all the bands did a phenomenal job, leaving the fans star struck and happy.

After the show was over the crowd flocked into the waiting area of the XCEL, outside of the arena. The T-shirt shops and food stands and everything were packed throughout the whole show; they were especially packed at the end of the show, though. Good job, to Linkin Park, Pendulum and Does it offend you, Yeah?,  they deserve it.
