The snow storm last Thursday, the 16th, cancelled all games for Albert Lea High School sports teams. The boys and girls hockey teams rescheduled for Friday. Also playing was boys basketball.

Coming off of a 2-1 win over New Prague, the boys hockey team traveled to Winona and brought home a win. They beat Winona in overtime 3-2. Scoring was Eric Carlson, Darik Weigel, and Luke Cheever. The girls hockey team beat Winona as well 7-1 on their home ice. Scoring was Kaley Waldemar, Mariah Leach, Natasha Moyer, Anna Anderson, and Lauren Draayer.

The boys basketball team played a tough game but lost to Mankato West 58-44. They out-scored the Scarlets in the second half, but just couldn’t tie up the score. Scoring for the Tigers were Alik Smed, Kyle Ooms, Tyler Wichmann, Aaron Klatt, Cameron Hove, and Silas Randall.

On Saturday, the girls hockey team lost a tough game against Red Wing. They lost 2-1 in overtime. The Tigers have a good chance in facing the Wingers in sections, and will be ready to take them on.

Boys swimming hosted the Tiger Relays on Saturday as well, and took 13th out of 13th. The relay times and dives did improve a lot though compared to last year.

The boys hockey team will play Austin at home on Tuesday at 7:30, as well as girls basketball. They play Rochester Centuryat 7:30. Also competing on Tuesday will be the boys swimming in Rochester Mayo. On Thursday, Mayo will travel to Albert Lea to battle the wrestling team. Girls Hockey doesn’t play until the 27th when they travel to Austin for the Holiday Tournament.
