Spring Fever Week Photos
Senior Matthew Ramirez played violin for Tiger’s Roar. “Watching the other acts, a lot of them were fun to watch, and getting to see everyone’s talent’s was my favorite part of Tiger’s Roar,” said Ramirez.
Tiger’s Roar: The Riskier the Better
Most of the players, organizers and volunteers who helped raise money for the Orrie Jirele Scholarship pose with his signature in the school's gym. The Night of Fun basketball fundraiser was on March 1st. Sophomores beat the Juniors 84-40. The staff pulled out a last minute win against the Seniors 52-51.

Tenth-grader Janely Tuxpan created a paper mache for class and said "It doesn't come out how you want it. I just take it apart and try it again to get it how I want."
Working Through Mistakes
Senior Carly Stevens calls this art piece "The Hummingbird." Her grandmother inspired her to make this since she loves hummingbirds. "Once completing it I was glad I was able to make something that looked good," said Stevens "It was a bit of a struggle to make because I had to make sure everything was in the right spot."

[Photo] Albert Lea High School’s Publications Program Has a Big Distribution Week

On March 28, the Ahlahasa staff conducted a survey that students took in English classes. The survey was voluntary and students were informed that their answers were not anonymous and could be used in the newspaper. There were 382 responses and the data for the article was pulled directly from that survey. ALHS administration provided additional data on fights and suspensions. The purpose of this survey was to gather insights into various aspects of the school’s culture, including but not limited to traditions, values, experiences and perspectives. The feedback provided a comprehensive picture of what it means to be a part of the ALHS community.

Senator Dornink participated in the new “Tiger Talk” Podcast with co-hosts Principal Chris Dibble, Jack Skinness (12) and Mike Olson (12). Senator Gene Dornink shadowed Dibble as part of the Minnesota Principal for a Day initiative. This event was sponsored by the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals and Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association and matches state politicians with local schools so they can get a feel for what a day in the life of an administrator--and therefore teacher--looks and feels like. Senator Dornink got to see what a normal day looks like at ALHS and guest on “Tiger Talk’s” second episode.
