Winter is a time of joy, holidays, snow, and of course, complaining about the cold.
Sure you want to dress to impress when you show up to school every morning. But when the temperature drops the shirt sleeve and pant legs should get longer along with it. For instance, a dress with a cute pair of flats would not be considered appropriate winter wear.
If you want to dress nicely for school but remain safe and warm you could try wearing thicker knit tights with your skirt or dress or putting on a nice button down shirt with a nice pair of slacks.
If the weather turns for the worse and you’re not prepared you could put yourself in some serious danger if you’re stuck outside. If the wind is blowing at 15 miles per hour and it is 20 degrees outside, it only takes 30 minutes for frostbite to set in.
When it comes to winter weather it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. You can always take off some layers of clothing but if you don’t have certain things with you can’t put them on. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
It is known that for some student’s families it can be a struggle to afford winter clothing every year for their growing children. That is why for the past few weeks
The United Way of Freeborn County has held a winter clothing drive where people could donate new or gently used winter wear. Families will be able to pick up this clothing at The Attic. So be safe this winter and have a happy holidays.
