The weather is finally getting warmer and the sun is coming out which calls for pickleball. Pickleball is wildly popular nowadays. It was mostly popular with millennials but now it has reached younger generations. Pickleball is a mix of tennis, ping pong and a little bit of badminton.
Pickleball is competitive yet fun. It is similar to tennis, but the paddles and court are smaller.
A big reason why it became so popular is because it is an easy game to learn and you don’t need many skills. It is a less physically demanding game which makes it appealing to a bigger audience. This game is perfect for people who want to play tennis but are not willing to learn all the skills needed.
Many A-list celebrities such as Olympians Michael Phelps and Serena Williams have been seen playing pickleball, which brought a bigger audience to the pickleball world.
This is why Hasa picked up pickleball. We wanted a fun, yet easy game to play, and pickleball fits the description.
Before leaving for the court, everyone split up and carpooled with one another. I was with Jorja and we listened to music at full volume throughout the car ride. It took us a while getting there but we were still the first group to arrive at the pickleball court.
A few people brought their pickleball sets too. There were a few people who got left out because there weren’t enough paddles. But turns out they didn’t want to play anyway.
Those who didn’t want to play got to enjoy soaking in the good weather with the sun out.
Meanwhile those who played were sweating because of moving with the sun being out. A few of us played doubles while others played singles.
Rosa and Maddee were up against Evy and Carley. They played a tough match. The ball kept going and forth, our heads kept going left and right. You would expect Evy and Carley to win because they’re in tennis but Rosa and Maddee took the win.
We had limited time to play but it was still fun. We found out that half of Hasa doesn’t like to do anything involving sport.
Those who played were really into it. We got to see who is naturally good at pickleball and who isn’t. And even if we weren’t good it was completely fine.
This was a fun team bonding experience considering how we don’t really see each other outside of school. So for us to even be playing games or just hanging out with each other was a nice change.
