Eggnog is commonly referred to as “the” holiday drink, but I think it doesn’t make sense. Eggs don’t belong in drinks, and yes, I have tried it several times and just wasn’t impressed. Plus, the eggs are uncooked; thus, it can possibly make you sick. Since I get sick enough as it is, I’m not about to take any chances drinking something that could contain salmonella bacteria. Besides the whole uncooked eggs thing, the taste itself isn’t pleasing. I think that it tastes too rich and overwhelming. The texture of it just seems too thick and unappealing to my taste buds. I understand that there needs to be a universal holiday drink, but why can’t it be hot chocolate or coffee? Instead of downing a ton of eggs and whipping cream, I’d rather indulge in a peppermint mocha from Caribou.
