Here at ALHS, there are a number of people who work behind the scenes to help make this school run. We, as a staff, feel they are sometimes under appreciated and would like to show appreciation for them.
First, we would like to thank the teachers who take so much time out of their life and make so much effort to help us learn. It may not always seem like it, but they have to take time after school to grade papers, prepare worksheets and make lesson plans. Some teachers also coach. Not to mention that they often have to deal with the not-so-compliant students.
Speaking of coaches, we would like to thank them for keeping the sports students motivated and active, as well as helping them win games.
Second, the janitors. The janitors, frankly, clean up after us; even when we can easily do it ourselves. They keep the school clean. We’re guessing most students (or anyone else who has to come to the school, for that matter) wouldn’t want to be in a filthy school for over seven hours every day.
We would also like to thank other maintenance staff. The people who keep the school running- fixing leaks, changing light bulbs, making sure everything in the building works. This includes the tech maintenance staff, who works hard to make our crazy network run as smooth as possible.
Thirdly, the office and library staff. They tell us where things are, what to do and where to go, when we don’t know. They tolerate thousands of questions every day and do it with a friendly smile. Those are the people who let you check out library books and keep track of your attendance so nothing goes amiss.
As well as the office workers, we would like to thank the counselors and the school police officer, Ted Herman. They work to keep us on track and keep us safe. Along with them, the school nurse staff helps to keep us healthy, and more importantly, allows us to go home when we’re sick.
We would also like to thank the paras who help with the special needs students, as well as the special needs students themselves for keeping the garbage cans cleared.
Also, we feel the need to thank the lunchroom staff and the lunch workers. We appreciate them making us food and serving us, and keeping the lunch room clean.
We’re sure that we’re forgetting some people, but we would just like to thank everyone who works on and off the scenes for all the hard work they do keeping this school running. We appreciate all that you do.
