Living for Golf:Pulley works to bring her golf game to the next level

Living for Golf:Pulley works to bring her golf game to the next level

If you go out to Wedgewood Cove Golf Club, you will probably see sophomore Megan Pulley working on her golf game. She likes to spend as much time as she can at the golf course working on her skills and improving her game to be the best she can be. Pulley is typically at the course at least six days a week, and she likes to practice for an hour before and after her rounds to improve on specific parts of her game.
Her favorite sport is golf, and she has been playing since she was six years old. This spring Pulley will be playing for the girls’ Tiger golf team for the fourth year. Her hopes for her team are to win the Big 9 Conference.
Pulley has personal goals to accomplish this season.
“To win the individual Big 9 title and go to state, and place well there,” Pulley said. These goals are reachable for her because she has had much success in her past. She has won several medalist honors at high school meets, and she has also won a Junior PGA tournament, which got her invited to the Players Tour tournament at the Legacy in Brainerd, Minn.
Pulley also has long-term goals that she will keep in mind. She really wants to play college golf, and would love it if she could make it pro, or a higher level at some point in the future. For fun she also wants to help the little kids learn the game in an enjoyable way.
Her high school golf coach is Shawn Riebe, and Pulley recognizes him for teaching her more about the game than anyone else could have.
When asked about Pulley’s future in golf, “Megan puts in the hard work and dedication to make her the success she is, and it will continue to show over the next three years,” Riebe said.
She said, “He is always there, like a dad and a coach. He is always very supportive.”
Pulley has put much of her life into the game of golf. She enjoys spending hour after hour on the course and practice facilities honing her skills. During the summer, mornings are her favorite times to golf.
She likes working on her short game more than anything else.
“Working on putting is the most important,” she said, adding that her iron game and her driving are definitely her strengths. “(Putting) completes the game in every player.”
When Pulley isn’t practicing in town at Wedgewood Cove and Green Lea, she is likely enjoying a vacation down south. Her favorite course she has played is Pinnacle Peak in Scottsdale, Ariz.
“I have always wanted to play Division 1 golf,” said Pulley. She will keep focusing on her goals as she practices for her bright future.
