Corey Black talks to his team during a game. Black has been a part of the Albert Lea football program for years before becoming head coach.

Corey Black
Black is the head coach of the varsity football team and a science teacher.
Black cares for his players and students, he is always asking for them to come to him if in need of help.
Black attended Rochester Mayo High School where he played baseball and wrestled.
Black attended Bemidji State College where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in science education with an emphasis in Chemistry, as well as a chemistry minor with an emphasis in forensics.
Helping others, caring for students, teaching and sports are all important to Black.
“Play with confidence and effort while we give full effort and accept the outcome that happens” Black Said.

Jasmine Hansen
Hansen is the assistant coach for the tennis team. Hansen attended high school in the Morris Area.
During high school Hansen played volleyball, basketball and ran track.
After high school she attended college at Moorhead State where she continued to run track.
She is inspired by her dad, she wants the ability to help kids and see them succeed in life like he did.
The thing that drives her to be a coach is to see kids in and out of school and build different relationships with them.
Chris Withers
Withers is the Head Coach of the Tennis team. Withers attended high school at Champlain Park where he played basketball, baseball and ran cross country.
After high school, Withers attended college at the University of Wisconsin. During college Withers ran Cross Country.
What drives Mr. Withers to be a coach/teacher is to see student athletes improve in life and to know that he had part in their success, and to let students know that life isn’t always fun but to always have a positive attitude.

Hoang Tran
Tran is the eighth grade football coach.
Students believe Tran is a great asset to our football program through teaching students how to be great football players before they get to varsity.
Tran attended Prior Lake High School where he played football, did karate and was on a paintball team.
After high school, Tran attended college at Mankato State.
Tran is inspired to be a teacher by his sixth grade teacher.
She taught Tran how to still be successful in life while going through tough times.
Tran also wants to see kids succeed in life and wants to see them grow and improve their skills.
“Education opened doors for me, and now I want to open doors for my students” Tran said.

Aaron Welch
Welch is one of the girls soccer coaches at ALHS.
Welch went to Winona High School.
During high school he participated in basketball, baseball, soccer, football, track and was the President of the Snowboarding Club.
After high school, Welch attended college at the University of Minnesota in Duluth, majoring in building experience with mental health.
Welch is inspired by his eighth grade teacher and tries to relate with students and make school enjoyable.
