Meet the Managers

Students Chloe Stripe and Cammy Tewes tell how it is as a team manager

The sports in ALHS have shown lots of skill. Some traveled around the country, teams competed in state tournaments, and sophomore Lindsey Horesji tried out for the Olympics. Although know the people competing, who are the people behind the scenes that help make all this happen? Cammy Tewes and Natalie Peek are managers of the girls basketball team. Between keeping scores, getting their towels and water bottles ready and watching the clock, they have much to do. “It’s really fun to watch the girls, they’re really competitive,” Tewes explained. Tewes and Peek go to all of the games, home or away, and try to attend most of the practices.

“Away games are the best. I love the bus rides with the team,” said Tewes. The girls swimming and diving managers are Chloe Stripe and Luke Sundblad. Together they keep track of statistics, such as swimmers’ times during races. In practices Sundblad and Stripe time the girls’ sprints and write down the section qualifiers. Outside of swimming and diving the team will get together for spaghetti suppers and team bonfires. Stripe was the first to get the team all together this season.

“I love hanging out with the team, I had a team bonfire so we could all be together,” Stripe said.

Along with team sleepovers and poster making, Stripe loves to tag along.

“Chloe makes the team fun. She’s one of the people I’ll miss the most next year,” said Chelsey Battle, a senior on the swim team.

Athletes don’t always show as much appreciation as the managers should get. They are a major part in what helps athletes
