They came from outer-space

Look! In the sky! It’s a bird! No, it’s a plane! No, it’s a large circular extraterrestrial unidentified flying object!
For the most part, students agree the government withholds secrets that will, most likely, never meet the public’s ears. Lately, one rumor have been circulating almost as readily as your grandfather’s war stories: Sightings and reports of alien visitors. This rumor has almost as many variations as your grandfather’s story when he supposedly “stormed Normandy with an Irishman they called Lefty because he lost his left arm in The Great War … or was it his right?”
With the growing knowledge of the cosmos, many are open to the idea of some form of lifeform somewhere among the trillions of stars and quadrillions of planets in this vast universe.
Some disagree on the existence of our cosmic roommates. Sophomore Hannah Kingstrom is among the numerous people who deny the existence of any forms of life beyond Earth.
“They’re just clouds or planes that people think are aliens,” Kingstrom said. “Either that or they use photoshop.”
But on the other side of this belief spectrum are people like sophomore Carissa Fitzlaff. Not only does she, along with many others, vouch for the existence of extraterrestrials but they also believe the government not only harbors alien-Americans, but holds them hostage as well.
“I believe the government knows about aliens and has them,” Fitzlaff said. “They just don’t want to tell us so we don’t ask more questions and so people don’t panic.”
For people stuck in the middle of these radicals, it’s not about government cover ups or depressing thoughts about being truly alone on this wet blue rock in this ever expanding, limitless universe. It’s about having an open mind, but being calm and realistic at the same time.
Cousins Sydney Hagen, freshman, and Alex Hagen, senior, agree the existence of life on planets, other than our own, is not only likely, but extremely plausible. But at the same time, trust the government knows about as much as the majority of the public knows.
“I do believe in extraterrestrial life.” Alex said. “But with the little to no evidence that we’ve found of extraterrestrial bodies in our own galaxy being able to sustain life, I don’t believe any advanced life has ever visited our planet.”
